To Our Beginnings

Well, this is something I've been meaning to do for a while, and now it's finally done.

This is a redraw of the first drawing I ever posted on deviantArt. On June 17th, 2008,  almost seven years ago, I posted my first piece of art here, titled "Leafpool and Crowfeather."

I just wanted to see how far my skills have come since that first drawing. I'm really, seriously happy with how this turned out. I mean, if the sun's that far up, the sky shouldn't still be that dark, but it looks frickin' cool anyway.

I dunno why I changed it to sunrise, but it looked cool. Well, I mostly did it to experiment with shading. I included pretty much everything from the other image; the sun, Leafpool looking concerned, Crowfeather looking concerned for her and laying his tail tip on her back, the mossy rock, the moor. The only major things I changed were the time of day, and the moor being covered in grass rather than sand, because when I started here I had a major misunderstanding about what a moor was. XD

I'm also insanely happy with how the fur texture worked out. Crowfeather looks alright, but Leafpool looks amazing. That shading turned out incredible on her. I'm so happy with this piece in general. I think it really shows how far I've come.
